TASK 5. Word Choice Matters

Literacy skills extend beyond the denotative meanings of words on the page. Understanding an author’s point of view and attitude about a subject also means evaluating the tone. While this task focuses on word choice alone, it can be extended to include definitions and examples of figurative, connotative, and technical language.
