Regarding your article on the Transcontinental Railroad, the problem with the celebration at Promontory Point was that the 12,000 Chinese workers who actually built the railroad were nowhere to be seen. And worse still, at the centennial, they were still not recognized. It is only recently, with the work of Philip Choy and others of the Chinese Historical Society, that the Chinese railroad workers are being acknowledged. Please rectify this omission from the magazine.
Recently, Stanford University has begun to recognize the importance of the railroad workers.
