John Rossetter built this two- story Early Colonial home in 1734 on the picturesque Liberty Green of Clinton, CT, once a militia muster field & Revolutionary War encampment visited by Generals Washington & Lafayette. It is in the center of the Clinton Village Historic district, and the town boasts 144 propertieson the National Register, including the Rossiter House now operated as a bed & breakfast.

Between the Revolutionary & Civil Wars, busy shipyards along the Indian River that flows through the center of town launched nearly 200 vessels. During the War of 1812, the village's citizen militia thwarted attempts by British warships to raid their harbor. A Navy cannon still sits on Liberty Green aa reminder of those skirmishes, as well as a Civil War Monument.
