Lincoln at the Time of the Cooper Union Speech
Teacher-to-Teacher
The article “Lincoln the Orator” provides insight into the writing process for speech writing and serves as an ideal introduction to the primary source, the Cooper Union Address. The speech is probably the most important component of this bundle, for in addition to being a primary source, it’s an opportunity for students to analyze what Lincoln is arguing and how he is making his case.
