Description: This leaflet, distributed before the 1860 election in Maryland, endorsed John Bell and Edward Everett for President and Vice President of the United States. Bell and Everett ran on the Constitutional Union party ticket, which was neutral on the issues of slavery in the United States. The party was formed mainly by former Southern Whigs who did not want the issue of slavery to lead to secession. The candidates stood for the preservation of the Union, supported The Constitution, and upholding the rule of law.
