Description: The Texas Revolution (October 1835-April 1836) was a conflict between American settlers in the Mexican state of Coahuila y Tejas and the Mexican government. It led to Texas's independence. Tensions escalated due to Mexico's centralized rule, restrictions on American immigration, and its abolition of slavery, which many Anglo-American settlers wished to retain. Key events included the Battle of Gonzales, the symbolic "Come and Take It" skirmish; the heroic but ultimately disastrous Siege of the Alamo; the Goliad Massacre, where Texan prisoners were executed; and the decisive Battle of San Jacinto, where Sam Houston's forces defeated and captured Mexican President Santa Anna. These events contributed to Texas's independence and led to the formation of the Republic of Texas.
