Description: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is an immigration policy that provides temporary protection from deportation and work authorization to certain undocumented immigrants who arrived in the United States as children. Known as Dreamers, eligible individuals must have entered the U.S. before their 16th birthday, lived continuously in the country since June 15, 2007, and been under 31 on June 15, 2012. They must also be in school, have graduated, obtained a GED, or served in the military. They also could not have a criminal record. DACA does not grant legal status or a path to citizenship, but allows recipients to obtain a work permit, a Social Security number, and access to education.
