Description: The National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) was formed in 1962 under the leadership of César Chávez and Dolores Huerta to organize predominantly Mexican‑American and Filipino farmworkers in California. It aimed to improve wages, working conditions, and access to social services through nonviolent collective action. In 1966, following a landmark grape strike in Delano, NFWA merged with the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee (AWOC) to create the United Farm Workers (UFW), which continues to champion farmworker rights today.
